Val Thorens pops out of the starting blocks

And it must be said, Val Thorens did not miss its season start! More than 24,000 skiers explored the slopes at 2,300 meters Alpine altitude on November 25 and 26. All accommodations were as good as fully booked and numerous interested journalists ventured out for a first descent in the brand new snow. With plenty of sunshine and winter cold, the weather conditions were favourable and our PR campaign did the rest.

Scoop on the slopes

Due to early snowfall and freezing temperatures in the Alps, Val Thorens was able to open some of its slopes a week earlier than planned this year. We seized that exclusive news opportunity, sent out an extra newsflash and sought out an on-site Dutch-speaking ski instructor to provide some clarification. Result? A lot of press attention, with a nice report in the VTM news, and a lot of enthusiastic winter sports fans who could usher in the ski season in avant-première.

Luxury, well-being & gastronomy

After the first fresh press releases and a well-received press trip, there are plenty of sporty plans in the works. We’ll soon be zigzagging through the press relations in the Benelux, with unexpected press outings and editorial visits along the way. In this way, different target audiences (specialized press, lifestyle, current affairs) can explore the wide white world of Val Thorens – including luxury, wellness & gastronomy!

More than just skiing

Val Thorens is the first ski resort in Europe to openand the last to close. Not only does it belong to Les Trois Vallées, the largest linked ski area in the world with more than 600 kilometers of slopes, but it also has a huge range of "non-skiing" activities. In Le Board, the new sports and wellness complex, you can catch a concert or open-air movie, you can play sports and fitness, or relax in the wellness facilities. More adventurous? How about a husky ride, electric motocross or snorkeling under the ice....
